The Easiest Electrolyte Drink Ever

This electrolyte drink is the perfect summer beverage

A while back I stopped buying expensive “electrolyte drinks”. After reading label after label, I found that most of those drinks contain a bunch of chemicals, in addition to electrolytes. All of those chemicals and fillers really aren’t needed.

So what’s a thirsty… uh, girl… to do?

Easy! You make your own electrolyte drink at home. Save a couple bucks while you stay hydrated.

What are electrolytes anyway?

In short, they are minerals that are essential for hydration. Basically, salt is a natural electrolyte, but we have to get specific about the kind of salt. I honestly don’t know who drinks iodized salt anymore, but I can guarantee that someone out there will assume that I’m talking about iodized salt.

And I’m not.

And…. I loved pink Himalayan salt for along time, until I found out that the mining practices aren’t always on the up and up.

Then I found Redmond Real Salt. This salt is mined un Utah and is high in minerals. In short, it’s perfect for our DIY electrolyte drink.

Ingredients:

1/4 tsp Redmond Real Salt

2 lemons

1 quart jar

Filtered water

Stevia or the sweeteners (optional)

Instructions:

  • Start with a clean quart jar. Squeeze the juice from 1 whole lemon into the jar.
  • Slice the second lemon.
  • Add the Redmond Real Salt
  • Fill the jar with filtered water and ice
  • Voila! Your own electrolyte drink made a home

Now it’s your turn. What are your favorite flavors? Maybe you love berries. Make a berry electrolyte drink!

Maybe you love herbs like basil and mint. An herbal electrolyte drink, it is.

You can see where I’m going with this. Creating your own electrolyte drink doesn’t have to be costly or complicated, so go forth and create your own special concoction. Happy Hydrating!
