Minty Cherry Limeade

Try this super refreshing (and a tad surprising) drink this summer.

Minty Cherry Limeade

There are two types of people in this world: people who LOVE cherry limeade, and people who don’t. I’m a cherry limeade person.

As you know I really love a mocktail. Fancy drinks have alway been my thing, but lately alcohol hasn’t been my friend. Between feeling sluggish and groggy the next day to having a stubborn dull headache, I feel all the after symptoms, even with one glass.

This is why I adore a good mocktail. You can enjoy the fancy drink without the alcohol.

One of my favorite taco places has a titos and cherry limeade on the menu (YUM and yes please), however sometimes I just don’t want to deal with the alcohol and everything it brings with it.

Did you know that alcohol is actually a stimulant? That's why you have such shitty sleep after a few drinks.

I wanted to recreate the Titos Cherry Limeade at home, but honestly with less sugar.

I honestly think we consume too much sugar as a society. There’s sugar in every. dang. thing. And is that really necessary? Can’t we give our pancreas a day off every now and then?

Minty Cherry Limeade

Why is mint tea so great?

Mint tea will always be a staple in my pantry. Mint is a tasty and comforting flavor that can remind us of eating peppermints as a kid.

But more than that, mint is energetically cooling. Even when you drink it hot, have you noticed a coolness to the back end? That’s because the enegentics of the plant itself are cooling. This makes mint the perfect base for a mocktail, especially during summertime.

Ingredients

Start by steeping your mint tea. I like to make my tea ahead of time and place it in the fridge to cool. That way, my mocktails get nice and cold and don’t get diluted with ice.

Grab a large jar for mixing (I like to use a quart jar). Add some limeade or lime juice to your jar. If you’re starting with limes, squeeze the juice first and then add some stevia until it’s at the desired sweetness. Make sure it’s tasty before adding any other ingredients.

Add a splash of tart cherry juice to your limeade mixture.Keep adding more cherry juice until it tastes cherry enough. We want a good balance of the cherry and lime so try not to overpower the drink with either ingredient.

If you like you drink a little sweeter, add more stevia. I do want to share here that I LOVE a good tart drink, so I just let the limes and tart cherry do their thing. I let this drink be more tart than sweet and it’s delicious.
