DIY Hand Lotion

I love hand lotion, but I hate all of the junky ingredients in it. This recipe is CLEAN. It also can be modified. If you like your salves more liquid, add more coconut oil. I recommend playing around with the recipe to test with works.

This is a great recipe for creating your own hand lotion. I have used this recipe for years and years.

Ingredients

  • 1 part beeswax

  • 2 parts coconut oil

  • 3 parts shea butter

Directions

  • Weigh out all of the ingredients. If you follow the recipe exactly, it would go like this: 1 ounce bees wax, 2 ounces coconut oil, 3 ounces shea butter.
  • Place all of the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Using a double boiler, or ban marie, slowly melt the ingredients
  • Once all of the ingredients have been melted, leave them on the stove on low for 20 minutes or so. This will allow all of the ingredients to fully melt.
  • Once 20 minutes have passed, slowly pour into a container (I place them on a cookie sheet in case I spill or drip). I like to use metal tins, but you can use a glass jar, too.
